Question: Can you adjust the planting depth? Is the spread width the spacing between seeds ? Is that what is adjustable from 1-4'?

Answer: The depth is adjustable from 0 to 2.5 inches deep. The spacing is pre-determined by the seed wheel being used. The seed wheels turn completely around about every 36 inches in the row, so you can count how many seed pockets on the seed wheel and divide 36 inches by that number to get the spacing. Sometimes you miss a seed, sometimes you get an extra seed.

There are 6 seed wheels. The shape as well as the size of the seed pockets vary, depending on the type of seeds they are intended to pick up.

Disk 1: Peas & Baby Lima beans large seeds (12 seeds/rotation = 3 in).

Disk 2: Beans, small peas medium large seeds (10 seeds/rotation = 3.6 in).

Disk 3: Corn, Cucumber, Sunflower medium large seed (5 seeds/rotation = 7.2 in).

Disk 4: Beets, Okra, Swiss Chard small seeds (10 seeds/rotation = 3.6 in).

Disk 5: Lettuce, Turnips, Endive, Carrot, Cabbage, Onion, Tomato tiny seed (8 seeds/rotation = 4.5 in).
